Deck-building
Card games used to mean building your deck before you played. Dominion (2008, Donald X. Vaccarino) turns that around: you buy cards and grow your own deck during the game itself, right at the table. It stands behind the culture of collecting and building decks that Magic: The Gathering (1993) created, but it moved the building itself inside the game. This structure later crossed into digital games and became Slay the Spire (see Indie's Second Start). No primary statement from Vaccarino about the influence of Magic could be found, so this map draws the lineage along the line of conventional wisdom rather than a confirmed source.
