Battle Royale (the novel)

Last one standing, a closed and shrinking arena, weapons found and fought over — the basic shape of battle royale already existed in the 1999 novel and its 2000 film. As an example of a form crossing over from outside games, this map places a dashed line here (things that aren't games are drawn dashed). But here I want to correct my own mistake. This map originally wrote that PUBG's Brendan Greene had "publicly credited" this novel as an inspiration, and drew the darkest kind of line for it. Looking again, I could not confirm those as words that came from Greene himself — every source I found was a writer's own background explanation, not a quote from him. So I've stepped the line down a level and redrawn it as an established account rather than a public acknowledgment. Resembling something and a creator saying they were influenced by it are two different things.
