Players as Makers
David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, who had been building physics simulation software, released Roblox in 2006, handing out the tool to make things at the same time as the game itself. Where Minecraft has you stack blocks inside a single world, Roblox became an economy where countless separate playgrounds are mass-produced and distributed on one platform. This contrast is this map's own way of organizing the two, since no source comparing them directly could be found. As of 2025, more than one hundred forty million people touch it every day. The channel running from DOOM's mods through Counter-Strike and DotA, where players become makers, was here built into the product from the start.
